Foundation knowledge, skills and attributes relevant to information professionals working in archives, libraries and records management

The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), Australian Society of Archivist (ASA) and Records and Information Management Professionals Australasia (RIMPA) collaborated on the development of the Foundation Knowledge, Skills and Attributes for information professionals working in archives, libraries and records management. 
 

ALIA New Generation Advisory Committee: Report on the 2020 COVID-19 survey results

In June 2020, Australia had faced its first lockdown and in many parts of the country we were starting to adapt to the ‘new normal’. The New Generation Advisory Committee (NGAC) noticed an apprehension among new professionals during two #AusLibChats. The May topic for #AusLibChat was Housebound and the June topic was Mindfulness. During both chats it was clear from the tweets that people were struggling to find peace during these stressful times. Many who were casuals lost their jobs. Others looking for employment were voicing their dismay at the lack of opportunities.

The future of library and information science education in Australia: discussion paper

In November 2019, the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) published The Future of LIS Education Issues Paper to inform a sector-wide discussion about the current state of professional education: the needs going forward, and the challenges we face in trying to identify and deliver the best outcome.
 

ALIA Top End Symposium 2018 feedback summary report

10th ALIA Top End Symposium, 12-13 October 2018 Darwin: Enabling universal literacies in the digital age
 
The symposium provides a professional development opportunity for local information professionals to engage with national and international experts on universal literacies, a theme deemed to be of interest to all members of the community. This event is a premium professional development activity for information and library workers in the Northern Territory.
 
The theme of the symposium was 'Enabling Universal Literacies in the Digital Age'.
